Things I Loved About 2017

New Years resolutions and I do not mix. While it can be fun to think of things you’d like to accomplish in the next year, it takes away from reflecting on all the things that you have to be grateful for. Here are some of my favorite things from 2017!

Favorite Podcast: My podcast obsession only got deeper this year with the discovery of The Love Bomb by Nico Tortorella. He did his final episode a couple of months ago, but there are so many great ones you can go listen to. He talks all about love and relationships of all kinds (gay, straight, trans, monogamous, polyamorous, etc.). It’s super interesting and enlightening.

Favorite Book: You know a book is good when it makes you cry. I read all the time, but my fave from this year was The Sun Is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon. It follows the story of two teenagers who have absolutely nothing in common, but end up meeting and falling in love – all in the same day. If you’ve ever experienced falling in love in an insanely short amount of time, this one will hit home for you. The writing style is very unique too. It switches between Natasha’s view, Daniel’s view, and the Universe. It’s amazing and will give you all the feels!

Favorite Movie: Beauty and the Beast, of course! The remake was everything I wanted and more. I got to see it with my mom, one of my best friends, and my god daughter, which made it that much more special!

Favorite TV Show: This is Us. It’s not even a contest. This is the literal best thing on TV! If you haven’t seen it yet, binge it immediately.

Favorite Accomplishment: The biggest thing Worsham and I did this year was buy a house! We weren’t even planning on it, but life just flowed in that direction. We were tired of apartment life, all of the rent houses available were ugly, and neither one of us felt like uprooting to a big city where we’d probably be borderline poor. I lived paycheck to paycheck for a while when I had my first job and I did not do well emotionally (part of that was the actual job and part of it was literally having no spending money). I’m never going back! Oklahoma might not be the most ideal location, but where else can you get a dope house that needs no updates in a safe neighborhood for under 200k? We finished painting this week and can’t wait to get moved in!

Favorite Sporting Event: Speaking of Oklahoma, let’s hear it for our Heisman winner and my unofficial boyfriend Baker Mayfield. I went to a few  games this year, but my fave was our last home game against WVU. Bae is a sight to behold on the field…and in general.

Favorite Restaurant: If you’re ever around OKC, check out Green Chile Kitchen in Yukon! It’s definitely been our most frequented date night spot. The queso, cherry lime margs, and taquitos are especially bomb.

Favorite Trip: My favorite trip this year was when I went to Chicago this summer to spend the weekend with one of my best friends! It was my third time visiting the windy city, and I fell even more in love with it. We bypassed the touristy stuff this time and really explored the city.

Favorite Memory: I’ve had a lot of good times this year. My favorite would have to be our 1 year anniversary weekend in Eureka Springs. It was fun getting away from everything and exploring together! It’s hard to believe that we’ve already celebrated our first wedding anniversary, and I can’t wait for more to come!

What were your favorite things about this year?
